Hampton Court Palace

We began our second day in London with an introduction to riding the "tube." With the Hammersmith stop just a few blocks away, we paraded from our hotel to the station and followed closely - very closely - our fearless leader, Mr. Pratt! We made our way to a train station where we boarded above-ground trains for the pleasant ride to Kingston, from which we would walk to Hampton Court Palace.

When we arrived at the gates of
Hampton Court Palace, a re-enactment
was just beginning. This documented
a visit by Henry VIII and his court
to the palace. Built by Cardinal
Thomas Wolsey, the palace was given
to Henry VIII as a gift by the cardiinal.

Some of our group members had
a chance to "mix" with the privileged
'residents' of the palace...

The court musicians as well as the
court jester entertained the king, and,
obviously, the 21st century guests as well!
